How much does it cost?

Painting prices

Factors that influence the price

Superficie en pied carré

3-dimensional illustration, in Magog.
Obviously, when we think about the elements that influence the cost of a painting job, one of the first factors that comes to mind is the size of the space to be painted. To find out the square footage of a room, you need to measure the height of the wall and multiply that number by the width of the wall and so on for each wall in the room. Then, to find the dimensions of the ceiling, multiply the depth of the room by its width. To help you, here is an example of the dimensions of a rectangular room 20 feet wide, 9 feet high and 14 feet deep.

Wall 1: 9 feet x 14 feet =126
square feet
Wall 2: 9 feet x 20 feet =180
square feet
Wall 3: 9 feet x 14 feet =126
square feet
Wall 4: 9 feet x 20 feet =180 square feet
Ceiling: 14 feet x 20 feet =280 square feet

Adding the area of the ceiling to the area of each wall, we obtain a sum of 892 square feet which represents the total area to be painted. This allows us to calculate the number of gallons of paint needed and to estimate the price and duration of the work.

Working at heights

If the work to be done involves working at heights, our estimator will be forced to estimate whether it requires special equipment to ensure the safety of the job site. Sometimes this simply requires scaffolding, but it is possible that a bucket is required. We care not only about the quality of the work done, but also about the safety of our workers.

Number of coats required

To determine the number of coats needed to obtain a perfect result, there are several factors to consider. First, if the surface to be painted does not already have a coat of paint, it is necessary to apply a first coat of primer, then at least 2 coats of paint afterwards. If the surface already has paint, the first coat is not necessary. Considering the current color of the wall as well as the color that will be applied, it is possible that 3 coats of paint must be done. Most of the time, this happens when a dark coat is to be covered with a light coat.

Number of colors

If you want to have several colors applied on the same wall, you must be aware that this will influence the amount of money you will have to spend because we will need more preparation.

Presence of furniture or objects in the room

You should also be aware that doing paint work in an empty room is much easier than in a room that contains furniture and various objects. It allows you to work faster and more efficiently. Therefore, it is advantageous if the room where the work will be done is empty. If this does not cause you any inconvenience, it may be preferable to postpone your move in time for the work. However, we realize that it is not necessarily possible for you to delay this. Don't worry. As professionals, we will take the time required to ensure that your belongings are thoroughly covered to prevent damage.

Paint cut-out

As you know, cutting a room is a very important step that requires patience and attention to detail. The number of mouldings, doors, windows, electrical outlets and light fixtures obviously affects the duration of this step. It is therefore important that you take the time to plan the work with us so that it can be done at a time that is convenient for you and to avoid any possible disruption. Lintels
