How to reduce paint odors

Our team has already completed the work! After cleaning up from top to bottom and putting everything in order, we leave your home. Once the work site is gone, the only trace of our passage are the freshly painted walls.

Although we use products with very low V.O.C. that meet the strictest standards such as LEED v4, we know from experience that some people are more sensitive than others to the smell of paint, no matter how small. That's why we've created this page with a few steps you can take to mitigate the smell of freshly painted walls.

Open the windows

Open window to let in fresh air.
The most obvious trick is to air out the house. Open the windows in the freshly painted room and, if possible, open other windows in the house to let the air circulate more easily. At the same time, the freshly applied paint will dry more easily and you'll quickly get rid of the strong smell.

Add fans

You can also place one or more fans that will push the air outside. In addition to installing a free-standing unit, you can use the various options in your air exchanger or air conditioner to more easily send the bad smell outside and get rid of it.

Coffee grounds

Coffee beans
If you drink filter coffee, you can collect the coffee and place it on a baking sheet. This is a technique that works great for keeping paint smells away. The more coffee in contact with the air, the better. A large cookie sheet is ideal.

The lemon

Lemon
By mixing lemon juice with boiling water, the scent of the paint will dissipate and give way to the scent of the lemon. You can also grate the zest of the citrus or grind the peel and arrange the pieces across the room for best results. This also works with orange.

Sodium bicarbonate

Bicarbonate of soda
Most people have baking soda in their kitchen or bathroom. It is excellent for neutralizing unpleasant odors. To get rid of stale air quickly, place several small bowls in the room. The larger the room, the more bowls you will need to have inside for this to be effective.

Incense

Burning incense stick
Another trick is to burn incense or Armenian paper in the contaminated room. However, be sure to choose a fragrance that you find pleasant so as not to make the already strong smell worse. Many people find eucalyptus or pine scented incense pleasant to smell.

Onion

Onions
Unfortunately, our last tip is not for everyone. However, it is easily accessible and extremely effective. All you have to do is mix the slices of a few onions in 2 liters of boiling water. This technique is fast and effective, but obviously not suitable for those who do not like the smell of onions.
